Winter Spiral – December 14th

We will be celebrating our Winter Spiral on Friday evening, December 14th at 5pm in the play yard.

The Winter (or Advent) Spiral is a tradition for the younger grades at Waldorf Schools around the world as a way to count down the last days of darkness before the light begins to return. We will have a spiral of evergreen boughs both cut by hand at a local farm and arranged by the graders on Friday afternoon.

We will circle around the spiral as each child waits for his or her chance to walk towards the light. We encourage this to be a quiet inward festival for the families and children.

***Please bring a taper candle in an apple for each of your children who wish to walk the spiral – We’ll have an example of this in the schoolhouse***

Food for Thought

“A healthy social life is found only, when in the mirror of each soul the whole community finds its reflection, and when in the whole community the virtue of each one is living” — Rudolf Steiner
